Breaks between calendar events don't always work
Janna Curtis
Summary:
When I set 30 min buffer times before and after appointments, I expect it to prevent scheduling meetings within 30 minutes of ANY existing event on my calendar, not just future ADPList appointment slots. Currently, buffer time doesn't respect existing calendar events and allows people to schedule back-to-back meetings.
---
Buffer doesn't respect my linked calendar events:
Originally, I set my availability to include all the hours I would be ok with mentees booking, but the platform kept allowing people to request appointments back-to-back with other other events on my calendar.
---
Buffer doesn't respect ADPList events after adjusting schedule:
I also noticed that if I changed any settings about my availability for booking future appointments, the app no longer respects buffer time between new bookings and any ADPList events that were booked prior to the schedule changes. I had to send reschedule requests to 3 of the first 5 people who booked with me because the platform kept offering them times that shouldn't have been available.
---
Mentees have fewer opportunities because it isn't safe to expand availability:
Since the buffer settings offer so little protection from back-to-back bookings, I had to severely restrict my booking availability down to a narrow window of a few hours per week when I can be sure it won't be back-to-back with existing events. I noticed some other mentors have a strict availability routine. If this feature is corrected to ensure buffer time would respect existing events, then I could expand my availability to a much broader range. Maybe some other mentors would feel comfortable doing the same.
